SIG Autoscaling Updates and Feature Highlights

In this talk, the SIG Autoscaling team covers new features and proposed future functionality. New features include the Cluster Autoscaler's snapshotter for debugging, which allows cluster operators to understand the state the CA is using to drive decisions. Proposed future functionality includes the Multidimensional Pod Autoscaler (MPA), which combines the actions of the Horizontal and Vertical Pod Autoscalers but separates actuation from controlling algorithms. The Balancer API is also discussed, a new resource in the Autoscaling API that allows autoscaling workloads with pods having slightly different specs, useful for scenarios like evenly distributing pods across zones in regional clusters or maintaining desired ratios between pods on differing VMs. The talk also covers the promotion of several alpha HPA features. The presenters encourage involvement from attendees interested in implementing these features.
